Configuring SNMP for OS 400 servers

Login to the server console (telnet, …)

Type the command:


(This command allows configuration of the TCP server)

Go to option: 20

Select application number 1, SNMP

Select information about the system option 1

Option 2 community string (with its IP and network mask from the V7R1 release)

Once configured, SNMP service must start the service with the command:


(Make sure to type * SNMP as shown).

Now SNMP is enabled, you can check it by launching a check from the application.

Note: To stop the SNMP service, use this command:


(be careful to choose * snmp if it crosses IP connections on the partition).
